Washington, DC – Today, at Earth Day Texas 2017, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced the 38 small businesses that will collaborate with national lab researchers through the Small Business Vouchers (SBV) pilot. SBV facilitates access to the DOE national labs for American small businesses, enabling them to tap into the intellectual and technical resources they need to overcome critical technology challenges for their advanced energy products and gain a global competitive advantage. Eight DOE national laboratories will receive funding to partner with 38 competitively selected small businesses across the count.

The federal government is getting a centralized site to handle Freedom of Information Act requests. The Department of Justice’s Office of Information Policy will work with the 18F digital services shop to create a one-stop for all 119 agencies covered by the transparency law.

During sentencing, a judge questioned why a high-level civilian employee of the Federal Government, who was well compensated, felt the need to steal from the charities for who he was ostensibly raising support. A rhetorical question, of course – one for which no answer was proffered. He should have plenty of time now to mull it over, he will be spending the next year and two months in a Federal prison. He’ll also need to cover a $5 thousand dollar fine and pay $50 thousand in restitution from the charities he stole from.
