This final rule amends the Federal Acquisition Regulation to clarify the training requirements for contractors whose employees will have access to a system of records on individuals or handle personally identifiable information. These training requirements are consistent with the Privacy Act of 1974, 5 U.S.C. 552a, and OMB Circular A–130, Managing Federal Information as a Strategic Resource. Prime contractors are required to flow down these requirements to all applicable subcontracts.

DoD is hosting an “Industry Information Day” on Friday, June 23, to present a briefing, and receive and address industry feedback on the implementation of Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) Case 2013-D018, “Network Penetration Reporting and Contracting for Cloud Services.” Registration to attend this meeting must be received by Monday, June 12.

The public meeting will be held at the Mark Center Auditorium, 4800 Mark Center Drive, Alexandria, VA 22350-3603. The auditorium is located on level B-1 of the building.

Are you a small business interested in meeting DON IT leaders?

The DON IT Conference East 2017 will include a Small Business Speed Networking session providing the opportunity for one-on-one discussions between small business companies and DON IT leaders. This small business focused session will be held on Tuesday, May 16, from 3:00-5:00 pm at the conference hotel, Hilton Norfolk The Main, in the 4th floor Main Ballroom.

In a May 17, 2016 memo, the DON CIO issued updated guidance for acquiring commercial cloud services in the DON. The updated memo amends May 15, 2015 guidance titled, “Acquisition and Use of Commercial Cloud Computing Services.” This memo delegates final approval authority for Navy and Marine Corps commercial cloud services business case analyses (BCAs) to the DON Deputy CIO (Navy) and DON Deputy CIO (Marine Corps). DON CIO retains final approval authority of Secretariat BCAs. The memo also cites specific Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) guidance on acquiring commercial cloud computing services.
